Job Description:

Optimized Systems is seeking a permanent, full-time commercial BAS programmer and controls specialist to assist in the development, implementation and support of our energy-saving solutions and commissioning projects. Most work assignments are currently in the Omaha area and surrounding region. Essential duties and responsibilities will commensurate with abilities, training and potential.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Operating and troubleshooting of DDC controls systems
  • Operating and troubleshooting of building mechanical systems
  • Investigate existing controls and improve graphics and programming for consistency
  • Confirm BAS program operation by conducting tests and modifying program sequences to meet project objectives
  • Program and test DDC Control sequences based on engineered drawings
  • Integrate building equipment and legacy controllers using LonWorks, BACnet, Modbus, and third-party protocols
  • Startup and Commission DDC systems
  • Assist in performing site-specific training for owners/operators on their building controls
  • Monitoring contractor performance and working closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
  • May act as the project coordinator for projects of various size
  • Participating in progress meetings with the project field team
  • Adhering to safety standards with a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

  • General problem solving


  • 2 – 4 years of post-secondary education in related technical fields
  • 2 – 5 years of experience in building automated control systems
  • 2 – 5 years HVAC experience
  • Acceptable working knowledge of computers and mobile devices, including Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and common office productivity software
  • Strong initiative and interpersonal communications skills
  • Commitment to integrity and personal responsibility
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Able to pass a background check, reference check and drug screen

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar fields and/or 2 – 5 years of BAS programming and integration experience
  • Certifications in operations and programming for one or more BAS platforms
